So there I was minding my own business, making a legitimate left hand turn on a green light, when suddenly Boom! I got rear-ended. I hesitated 'cause there was a woman turning right who was GOING, no matter what, and the person behind me slipped on the wet pavement and ended up taking part of my bumper off.

There's not a lot of damage - the bumper's bent, and off its mooring on one side by about an inch, and a brake light is broken. The guy in the car with me said he was fine, and my injuries seem to be limited to a bruise along the back of my arm. Apparently the edge of the driver's seat is pretty rigid.

This is the first accident I've had in Ontario, though, so I'm about to start wading into the mess that is our insurance system. I've got the other driver's name and address, but I'm not really sure I need it.

Any advice before I start?

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. Hope you're okay, and there are no residual bad effects. Sadly, I know nothing about auto insurance, and don't have anything useful to say about that. Good luck getting this all dealt with.

Everything seems to be fine. I'm just hoping I don't stiffen up and start having back issues - they may take a while to show...

That sucks. Glad to hear you're basically ok though.

OK, apparently the bad car karma has not yet gone away from my Friends list. Here's hoping that's the end of it.

Don't have any adivce on the insurance front. My accident was minor enough in terms of damages that it did not need to be reported and I'm not planning on making a claim.

I seem to be okay, thanks. Hopefully I won't stiffen up as the day goes on. *g*

Unfortunately, my bumper is going to need to be replaced, and that kinda moves the whole thing out of my petty cash fund. If it were just the light, I wouldn't go to the insurance company, that's for sure.

The bad car karma for your Friends list is even deeper than you thought - the guy in her car is MY partner!!

Oh yeah, that's right. Glad he's ok too :-)

I am so sorry to hear about this :-(

I hope you are right and that your condition does not change....my brother and I were rearended when I was 20 or so. We were both fine until the next day - I remained fine, but he ended up on the flat of his back for 3 days in some reasonably serious pain.

I hope C. is also fine....I will go call him to check on him.

(*huge hug*)

He kept saying that he was fine, so I hope that hasn't changed. My big worry is that I'll stiffen up really badly - my back is starting to get stiff now, although my neck is still just fine. Apparently the extra-high headrests in the Tercel are a Good Thing.
