  • Bowling is fun, but man, I was sore afterward. My hip flexors didn't like all the lunges with weights I was doing. *g*

  • On that theme, I really need to get back to the gym. We went for a "walk" with the dogs yesterday, and keeping up with the 10-year-old (that's 70 in dog years!), arthritic, meek Mayhem almost killed me. I don't like getting looks that clearly say "what's the problem, slowpoke?" from her. On the plus side, the new pills seem to be working wonders for her arthritis.

  • Pasta with sausage, peppers, and sun-dried tomatoes cooked in a white wine sauce? Yum!

  • Appliance shopping is just weird. It's almost like... I'm an adult! Heh.

  • The play of the football game (Seattle vs Dallas, on Saturday) made a lot more sense when we realized the score was 20-21 for Seattle, instead of 21-22 for Dallas in the final minutes of the 4th quarter. The reception was a little fuzzy, so we thought the 20 was a 22. So, with seconds left to go we were alternating between "why does the Dallas QB (who fumbled a snap for a field goal from about the 5th yard line, ouch) look so devastated? They're still winning the game! They have it." and "Why isn't Seattle trying harder? Why are they letting the clock run down, they could score again!" Then the game was over, and the wrong team was celebrating, and we clued in to the fact that the second digit in the Dallas score was a "0" instead of a "2". Heh. That'll teach to just tune into the game for the last 10 minutes.

  • The weather is freaky. I let the dogs out at 9 yesterday morning, looked around, and said "What a lovely spring day". The crocuses are starting to grow, the trees are starting to bud, and Havoc & Mayhem were getting frisky. It's not April, dammit! None of that should be happening!

That may not have been the smartest thing to do.
After not having been to the gym at all in three weeks, I decided today, the day of the 35C high temperature and killer humidity, was the perfect day to take a first spinning class at my gym.

The good news? I finished it! (I may not have been at full intensity for the whole time, but I did it!)

The bad news? My knees are buckling with every step I take. Climbing stairs on the way home was...fun. Although I believe going down stairs will prove to be worse, tomorrow.

But I did it! Go me!

As lots of you know, [livejournal.com profile] mycrazyhair and I are doing our eating right/exercise challenge once again. This time around, I'm going to be documenting in my main journal - I was getting a little tired of having to log in back and forth between here and [livejournal.com profile] carynww all the time - so I'll just do it here, instead, under a filter. So, if you'd like to be on my food/fitness filter, please let me know. (If you were reading [livejournal.com profile] carynww you're already on my fitness filter here). It's just gonna be lists of what I ate, and what sort of exercise I'm doing, mostly...

Almost exactly a year ago, I reached my weight loss goal in the WeightWatchers program. It had taken me almost two years, but I lost a total of 109 pounds, and I was very happy with myself.

Well, I weighed myself this morning, and I've put about 25 pounds of that back on. So, this has to stop. If I keep it up, in another couple of years I'll be close to where I started from, and I worked too hard to get the weight off to allow that to happen. I kept one size of clothing larger than what I needed at that minimum weight, and most of that is now uncomfortably small. I'm not about to buy new stuff, though, not at this weight.

The truth is, I'm now starting to dread my trip home Christmastime. Last year was so much fun, and this year I'll just get a sad look from Mom, with a "But you were doing so well..."

So, I'm going back on program. One thing I've done is set up a journal for logging food and exercise points - it's at [livejournal.com profile] carynww. I figure if I do at least that much out in public, maybe it'll help me stick to program for a while. It's worth a shot, anyway.
