My Rogue

So, I started knitting my Rogue sweater about 10 days ago, and I thought I'd post some work-in-progress pics. I'm knitting it in the Biggs & Little Heritage wool, in red heather.
Rogue Week1_1
This is the side cable detail. The cables pop really nicely.
Rogue Week 1_2
The front pocket. This one's kinda hard to see the detail of, but I like the way the edging displays nicely on the sweater.

It's been pretty easy to knit up, so far. Doing the front kangaroo pocket was kinda neat - the bottom is attached quite well (I was afraid it would have gaps), and now I'll just have to see if I can add it back in when I get to the top of the pocket.

I think I'll be taking pictures about once a week and posting them, just so that I can have a journal of how it knit up. I'll probably lock them away (I don't really want to span my friendslist with pictures of a work-in-progress), unless people would like to see them. So, if you would, comment below and I'll include you in the friendsgroup.

Knitting! Yes please, count me in. It looks great so far, btw, and the colour's luscious. :)

Thanks! I really hope the colour works on me once it's done. If not, I'll just have to do another... *g*

Thanks! I'm hoping it won't take too long to do, since I also have an afghan for someone (*g*) to finish once the weather turns nicely cool.

yours looks absolutely lovely! now i'm all anxious to get my Rogue kit up to mum and have her get started on it for me :) (mine's going to be a medium heather grey colour)

i don't knit, but i spin yarn from wool rovings... i really should teach myself how to knit, it would make managing my surplus wool a tad easier, i think :)

and yes please, add me to your knitting filter, i love to see what crafty stuff other people are doing!

Thanks! I'm quite happy with the way it's knitting up. I think if I do another (which I may, if it turns out well - I think I may want one in grey), I'll do a different hem, but other than that, it's good. *g*

I'd actually really like to know how to spin... I think it might be quite cool to card & spin M's dogs' fur, when they blow their coats. Trust me, there's enough of it, and they blow coat twice a year, so if I actually combed it out and saved it, I could actually knit something out of it.

i can teach you the rudiments of drop spinning, at least, in about ten minutes, but you'll spend the next indeterminate period of time cursing me as you practice drafting (the act of manually pulling the fibres off the roving so the spindle can twist them into a ply). the basic mechanics are easy, but the skill of getting the draft even is something that comes with practice :)

i only offer to teach the drop spinning method because i have lots of drop spindles; sadly, i don't have regular access to a wheel :(

> i really should teach myself how to knit

I can teach you the basics (and possibly even some slightly-more-than-basics) if you like. :)
