I was talking with [livejournal.com profile] angelfire1969 last night about the difficulty in unpacking with all my boxes in the room. I described it as a "Wall of Boxes" once you walk in, but I really don't think that does it justice. So, some sample pictures. *g*

Pooka's looking for the highest spot in the room, of course
Sea of Boxes, Take 1 Sea of Boxes, Take 1

The view from the entrance to the kitchen, at the far end of the main room. The desk is buried in the corner under there, somewhere.
Sea of Boxes, Take 2 Sea of Boxes, Take 2

The view from the entrance to the main room. There's no furniture in that back corner; it's just boxes.

The new place is 6 feet longer in the main room, but not as wide. I've graphed it out, so I'm sure all the furniture will fit (except for the end tables that I didn't really want, anyway). I'm definitely going to have to unpack boxes as soon as they're moved, though, or I'll be in the same spot - unable to unpack because I can't get at shelves to put stuff away.

It'll be fun, though. Organizing/re-arranging a new place is one of the good parts of moving. I never do it once I'm in a place, so this may be my chance to shake things up a bit.

Dear gods. Do you maybe have room for more storage-y type furniture? Or at least you could add shelves up on the walls. That might help.

The ceiling. People are always overlooking the storage possibilities of the ceiling. It works especially well if you're short.

(If you don't feel like using a stepladder to get stuff down from the ceiling all the time, installing a raised floor achieves much the same effect. It's a trade-off of cost for effort.)

I may end up getting one of the hang-from-the ceiling pot rack thingys, if I can't get all my pots into the kitchen space I have. So, ceiling storage may be in my future. *g*

Well, I think everything's gonna fit in the storage space I have, although the kitchen may be tight. It all came out of it, after all. *g* I may have to do some more culling of the knick-knacky stuff, and maybe of the videocassettes, but that should be it.

Whoah! It sounded like a lot of boxes, but when they're all together, they look like they're scheming to take over the world.

Heh. If taking over the world includes unpacking, I'm all for it. As long as they don't actually reproduce...
