Yeah, I know I shoulda been packing last night. I had to take a break and watch Veronica Mars, though, didn't I?
Wow. What an episode. It keeps moving faster and faster, and with only four episodes left in the season, I'm still not sure who killed Lilly Kane.
Thoughts on this one:
- Veronica's Dad and Wallace's Mom as a couple? Hee! That was a little unexpected, very cute, and a lot of fun, until Veronica started acting like a bitch about it. I mean, I get that she wants her Mom back, but telling Wallace that her Mom was in rehab and would be back once that was done, and then his Mom would be out one relationship? That was harsh. Even harsher was asking him - expecting him - to not tell his Mom about it. That really wasn't very nice of her.
- So, she told Duncan how to run, and how to hide. Why? I'm beginning to think she believes that Duncan is the murderer. I'm convinced that Duncan thinks it might be a strong possibility. I'm sure he can't remember the day, but then, he was pretty much catatonic the first time we saw the murder scene. It looked like he was in the middle of an epileptic episode, (I knew a girl when I was very young who had epilepsy, and her episodes looked a lot like that, rather than the typical shaking fit that is usually associated with it) so he probably just can't remember.
- I do like the fact that Wallace is starting to call Veronica on the way she uses him. Yes, they're friends. But I think that she does use him to get information, a lot, and doesn't always appreciate it. If he gets in her face about it a little more, then at least he may get an occasional thank-you
- I'm always happy when Mac or Meg shows up. Last night had both - Woo-hoo. Although, I'm not sure why Mac was even there, for that first scene. Veronica's laptop being unable to boot had nothing to do with anything else going on, so I'm wondering if Mac cracked her passwords & looked at her files. Will this come up again?
- Logan to the rescue!!! I mean, I figured he knew what was going on, and it sounded like Veronica was trying to feed him "where we're headed" type information, but he actually came to her rescue. And, that kiss was hot! I believe I'm becoming a Veronica/Logan 'shipper. *g* I will, however, not refer to the pairing as LoVe - that's just too cutesy for me. *g* Kirsten Bell's and Jason Dohring's chemistry is fantastic, and I much prefer it to the chemistry she has with the actor who plays Leo. They just seem...flat.
- Joey Lauren Adams was cool. I liked the fact that they showed a teacher at Neptune High who would stand up for her students, and do what was right, even against the principal's wishes. I wish that the teacher hadn't gotten fired, but that was a realistic consequence of publishing the fraud story after being explicitly told to stay away from anything that resembled real news. I did like the conversation between Veronica and the teacher (what was her name, dammit?) about whether to publish the story - it's one of the few times we've seen Veronica acknowledge that her actions may affect someone else negatively, and get that person's approval before going ahead. The teacher's job was on the line, so it's right that she got to make the call to publish.
- Another "finally!" moment - Duncan calling Veronica on her lack of respect for personal boundaries. The fact the she knows his medical history is waaaay over the line, and Duncan was right to tell her that if he'd wanted her or Logan to know, he would have told them himself. Someone needs to get Veronica to stop doing this shit.
- Speculation on the big questions: I don't think that Duncan is the murderer. I think he came home, saw Lilly, went to her immediately, and then started the epileptic episode. Somewhere in there, he got blood on his clothes. Jake & Celeste then came home, saw him catatonic, with the blood on his clothes, and assumed he'd done it, which started the time-of-death cover up and the purchase of Abel Koontz' confession. That lets out Duncan, Jake, and Celeste, and gives them motives for the cover-up. Logan has an iron-clad out-of-the-country alibi. Who's left? Weevil? Lianne? I just don't know.
Only four more weeks in the season. And I may not have cable or at-home internet for one of those weeks! I'm not sure I'll survive. *g*

Date: 2005-04-13 04:37 pm (UTC)You're right about her outsider status, and she's already told Meg, quite explicitly, that she can't go back to the '09er lifestyle. But, I think Logan feeling a little outside himself, since his Mom died, and they're really connecting on that level.
