Working life
Jan. 26th, 2005 11:31 amFirst the good news: M's working again! He started a new job on Monday, and it seems to be going okay. The temp agency he went to was looking for people like him, apparently. He gave them his resume on Tuesday, and they called on Friday with an assignment.
Is it weird that since he's is working a swing shift (3pm to 1am), I miss being able to get in touch with him? I mean, we hardly ever talk on the phone during the week, anyway. It just kinda makes me lonely, knowing that there's no chance I'll hear from him. I'd gotten used to keeping an ear out (while I was watching TV at night) for pings from my computer that meant M had signed on to Messenger and was available for chat.
But hey, he's got a job again! I'll get used to just brief chats with him during the workday. *g*
We're having fun at my work, too - we're moving our development environment from SCO to Linux, and implementing a new version control package at the same time, and it's been an interesting couple of weeks trying to get everything running on the new box. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy having to figure new stuff out, rather than working by rote. It has actually been fun. *g*

Date: 2005-01-26 07:38 pm (UTC)He seems to be okay with it, as long as he can adjust to the schedule. That's not happening so well, yet. *g* He figures it'll work out pretty well with school next term, at least - he'll be able to get to labs without work having to schedule around them.
