I think this cold/flu/sinus infection/whatever that has had me completely out of it for the last two weeks is finally beginning to retreat. How do I know this? When I got home last night, I actually had enough energy to clean my apartment (which soo badly needed it), and make some homemade chicken soup. Yay!

In the last two weeks I've done pretty much nothing but watch TV, since I've had no energy for anything else. So I've managed to watch 20 episodes of The West Wing (Seasons 1 and 2), 7 episodes of Angel, with commentaries (Season 4), 4 episodes of Buffy (Season 7), Return of the King:Extended Edition (no commentaries or extras on that, yet), The Aladdin Special edition, with commentaries and all the extras, and The Bourne Supremacy. Whew! That's a lot of couch-sitting.

Early West Wing rocked. What Kind of Day has it Been? and The Shadow of Two Gunman are fabulous, back to back. We're coming up on the good stuff in Season 2, and so we'll probably watch more this weekend. Mike's never seen all of 18th and Potomac (we ran across it in rerun a couple of weeks ago and watched the last half), and Two Cathedrals is one of my all time favorite hours of TV, so I'm looking forward to that.

ROTK:EE had some really good extra moments in it as well. The stuff about the Corsairs was crucial, I think, and shouldn't have been cut out of the theatrical release. If you didn't know the story already, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli being on ships made no sense. Jackson shoulda shortened up some of the endings, and kept that in, I think.

I loved the Saruman scene, and the Mouth of Sauron was just downright creepy. But the extra Theoden/Eowyn stuff was beautiful ("I would see you smile again" *sniff*), and Eomer's grief and finding Eowyn in the field was heart-wrenching. None of these was necessary for the story, so I can see why they were cut, but adding them in just makes the story *richer*.

On the book front, I thought I would do the book log, too. My problem? I started Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell on New Year's Day, and I'm only about a third of the way through. It's gonna take me a while to finish. *g* In the meantime, I have read a number of individual comics, but I don't tend to read them at all critically, so it's difficult to review them beyond "Batgirl #59 - fantastic fight scene. Tim's really, really needs some stable parenting." (I'd cut-tag that, but I don't really think any of that qualifies as a spoiler. *g*)

As a final note, Veronica Mars Rulz!

I seem to be getting there. Yay! It's pretty bad when having enough energy to vacuum my apartment is something to be really happy over. *g*

Anyway, hopefully another few days will have me well enough to go to the gym again, and start back in on "real life".
