Murphy's law, striking hard.
Nov. 25th, 2004 09:59 pmGood God, but today was a day of stuff not working the way it was supposed to.
We have no hot water in the building where I work. When we asked, we were told that we might get it back on Monday. Monday!
From noon until 2, we had no power at work. When you're a programmer, it's difficult to do anything when you have no power. For once, I didn't even have documentation owing that I could have started on paper. I used the time to clean my desk, and then played Bejeweled on my Palm.
I got home, and of the three elevators in our building, one was broken and on was on service, leaving only the slowest of the elevators to serve approximately 350 apartments. I waited 10 minutes, noticed the 4 women with strollers waiting for the next time the elevator stopped, and elected to take the stairs. I live on the 18TH floor. I made it, but I had to take a breather on the 9th floor. At least I got my exercise for the day, right?
Then, I go to wash my hands, and find that the hot water here is, at best, lukewarm.
Argh.
I think I'm going to bed now. Hopefully, things will be working tomorrow.
