I have my own phone on my desk at work!!!

Umm, sorry, I just had to celebrate. After working here for two years, they've finally wired the 6 of us in the secondary office (same building, different floor as the main office) into the main PBX, and we're getting our own extensions.

I currently keep my cell phone charged and with me at all times, since that's the only way I can be reached at my desk. I'll be able to start giving out a real phone number, which will be cool. Small things, I know. *g*

Woo-hoo! That's pretty damned cool. I can't imagine how disconnected I would feel if I didn't have a phone at work. I guess I'd learn how to remember to charge my bloody cell anyway.

Woot!

Um...does this mean that customers can start calling you with annoying questions?

Cause, mostly, I find that when a work phone rings, I'm not wanting the call. You may find this a step backwards...

Well, yes, this is a possibility. But, since I have very little direct customer contact anyway, it got very annoying having to spend all day sending e-mails back and forth trying to clear up an issue when a simple phone call would do.

I could make outgoing calls, by the way, I just couldn't receive any. So, on the rare occasions when I did need to talk with a client, I'd have to just keep trying over and over again until I caught them at their desk, since they couldn't call me back.

Most of our clients seem to be fairly well trained, by the way. Even those with my e-mail address always e-mail/call the support line first when a new issue comes up.

I think the advantages will outweigh the disadvantages, overall.

Cool. Do you have a business card?

Nope, no business cards. That would just be asking too much. *g*
