So. Tired.
Oct. 1st, 2004 12:05 amI got home tonight to a notice on my door that they're going to be doing something in my apartment tomorrow for bugs.
Now usually, they just put down some sort of paste, but the notice this time said to remove all pets from the apartment and move everything 2 feet away from the walls, and that I wouldn't be able to access the apartment for about 4 hours after they're done.
I think that means they're planning on spraying.
This made me very unhappy.
First off, how do they expect me to find somewhere to put my cat with less than 12 hours of notice? Second, they expect me to basically pack up my entire apartment in a single evening without even having enough notice to get some boxes? I don't think so.
So, I actually went to talk to the super. Apparently there's a pretty bad infestation a few floors directly below me, so they're trying to give it a good shot at getting the bugs. I told them I used to have a problem (the supers are new, so they don't know), but I haven't seen a bug in about 8 months. I'd clear out the kitchen and the bathroom for them to do, but nothing else. I also told him I would put Pooka in the small bedroom with a towel under the door and the window cracked, so he should be okay, but there will be strict instructions on the door to not open it.
I'm still worried, though. I don't know how bad the fumes will be. The super said that it's a spray that will settle, so as long as it's just a spray and not a gas, I hope he'll be okay.
I've been all night emptying out my kitchen, down to pulling the shelf paper off. Not really how I planned to spend the evening, and tomorrow night and Saturday will have to be spent re-laying shelf paper and washing all my dishes before putting them away. Again, not in the plan.
Ugh. I know it's necessary, & I know that preventative maintenance is good, but I really wish they'd given me a little more notice.
Now, I'm off to bed. 3 hours cleaning out my kitchen was enough. I'm tired.

As long as Pooka's okay when I get home, it's not really a problem. It's just the short notice that irked me.
