Stupid Airlines
Nov. 12th, 2003 05:10 pmAir Canada has changed my flight home Christmas time. The changes themselves aren't too bad - I leave Toronto a little later, and have a longer wait at Dorval, so I get in at midnight instead of around 9, but none of that is horrible.
I no longer have a seat assignment for the Dorval-Halifax or Halifax-St.John's portions of the trip. That means they've overbooked the flights. And, that means it's highly unlikely that I'll avoid getting bumped off the flight at one of those two airports. I buy my tickets early specifically to avoid this problem.
When are the airlines going to learn that overbooking a flight to the Maritimes around Christmastime is flat-out stupid? The only way a Newf who's got a ticket home for Christmas isn't on that flight is if they're dead. Last year there were more than 30 people overbooked on my flight out of Pearson - they actually brought in a bigger plane because there was no other way they were going to get us all as far as Halifax.
And now I'm wondering if I actually know anyone in Montreal, so I have somewhere I can crash if I do get bumped there....
