Indigo Girls w/ Madviolet
Mar. 17th, 2004 02:54 pmAnother great show last night. Good concerts seem to be happening all over the place, these days.
Anyway, Madviolet opened, pretty much right on time. Lisa & Brenley were in fine form, their voices great, and both seemed a little giddy to be performing onstage at Massey Hall. They did about 7 songs, I guess - Haight-Ashbury, Wake Up, I'm Alright, Light it Up, Save a Song, and two new ones, Worry the Jury, and Montreal. I wish that Worry the Jury had made it onto the album (seeing how it's the title track and all) - the lyrics were a little muffled as they were singing it, and I couldn't really make it out. It sounded like there was a fun story there.
They did a meet'n'greet/signing immediately following their set. Since neither Sis nor myself had thought to bring along our copies of their albums to get signed, we both bought new copies. So, I now have copies of Worry the Jury for both home and car. Either that, or I have a copy for pimping out. I'm sure I could leave it with
mycrazyhair for a while, and unlike certain other albums of mine, I wouldn't have to keep bugging her to get it back :-)
Then, it was back upstairs to see The Indigo Girls. They did a great show, as well, with a good mix of old and new stuff. I don't have their two most recent albums, but I could still sing along with most of the songs they did, so that was good. I can't remember everything they did, but The Power of Two, Least Complicated, Closer to Fine, Get out the Map, and Virginia Woolf were all in there. Oh, and they closed with Gallileo, of course.
Great shows. I think I'm going to have to try to convert M into a Madviolet fan, so I'll have someone to go with me when they're playing clubs around town

Date: 2004-03-17 12:45 pm (UTC)That was kinda the plan. There I was, standing in line, and I actually said to Sis that if I bought a new copy and got it autographed, I could "lend" the old copy to you. So, I guess I'll bring it with me to Ad Astra, and we can switch then :-)
I wish I could have been there, but I'm really glad I didn't buy a ticket. I still feel crappy. And there's no way I could have justified staying home from work if the reason I was tired was that I'd been in Toronto to see a show late the night before.
Yeah, if you'd actually had a ticket, I probably still would have recommended you not go last night. The show ran until after 11, which is pretty late for a Massey Hall show, and you would have had a mess of a time getting home, since it was snowing and all. As much as it would have been nice to have you along, it probably wouldn't have been wise.
Besides, you'll be living here before too long, right? Then it'll be easy to catch a Madviolet show, anyway. The Indigo girls might be a little harder to come by.
