Tonight was nice. With sweeps being over, I actually didn't even turn on the TV tonight, for the first time in much too long. Instead, I spent the night catching up on some reading. I finished Guy Kay's new book The Last Light of the Sun, read a Preacher collection, did my dishes, and generally just puttered around, listening to music.

Unlike some people on my friends list, I had a crazy-busy day at work today, so the night of complete downtime was kinda nice.

I think I need to start turning the TV off more often.

I really liked the book. I can't really say more than that (y'know, what worked for me and what didn't) without offering spoilers, which I don't really want to do. Have you read it yet?

But nothing for me will match The Summer Tree There's something about the intensity that goes with being 15 years old and falling head-over-heels in love with a character in the book (Diarmuid dan Ailell, in this case) that's a little hard to match once you've grown past, well, puberty. Kay will always be one of my favorite writers, just on the strength of that reaction.
