I actually manged to get an airline ticket home on points for Christmas. With direct flights each way. At the lowest points required level.

That has never happened before. So, I get to go home for Christmas, and all it'll cost me is all the NavCan and airport fees. W00t!

It does seem a little miraculous, actually. *g* I don't think I've ever booked a useful ticket on points before, so to get one for Christmas travel is just freaky...

I got a Christmas season visit to my sister in BC (flight to Calgary) on points a couple years ago. I ended up flying business class, cause everything at the regular rate (25K points for the trip) was full, and I could either pay 38K to "open up more seats" or 40K to travel in business class. Now, that was NOT one of the tougher decisions of my life. :)

I've also gotten a couple free nights at a hotel on hotel points, and that doesn't even come with all the extra fees -- it was completely free.
