M & I just went for a bike ride through the Conservation Area behind his place. It was fun - I'm starting to get used to the feel & balance of biking again, after 20 years or so. It was a lot harder work than the ride last week, though - that was on an old rail trail, so the pathways were wide, and pretty level. The one here? Not so much, on either count.

It's kinda weird - I remember how to bike, certainly, but I'm having trouble finding my center of gravity while riding. I slow almost to a stop when I'm going around curves, and that's unnecessary. Then, on the way back to the house today, I lost confidence on a very narrow section of the path along a hillside, and went splat!

No real damage done - I picked up a few splinters, but that's about it. But, according to my local expert (that'd be M) my new bike has now officially been christened. A mountain bike isn't really yours until the first fall. *g*
