Much, much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mycrazyhair, [livejournal.com profile] mightydoll and [livejournal.com profile] lordzowy who came out to my place and helped me paint last night. We got both rooms done, and with two coats of paint, no less! You guys are great!

I think it might be too yellow...

The only problem is - the bedroom is just too yellow. It was supposed to be gold, but it came out a colour much more suited to a kitchen or child's playroom than adult's bedroom. It's just too cheery for first thing in the morning. I'm not sure what to do - I'm considering ragging a darker colour over top of it to mute it down a little, but I'm not absolutely sure how that even works. And, since I'm the one who picked this colour, I don't trust myself to pick a colour that will work with it properly.

On the plus side, the colour in the main room came out absolutely great. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mycrazyhair for suggesting it!

VERY impressive! Can't wait to visit and see it in person. I love yellow, but sometimes it turns out that post-it-note yellow and you have to look for another shade. Good luck with the rag rolling if you end up doing that. *g*

Ragging, or rag-rolling is a lot of work. You basically need a clear glaze, with colour in it.

You might be able to do something nice with spongework or something. I'd think that over the yellow, to go more golden, you'd want something like a chestnut brown.

Congrats on getting so much accomplished last night. I won't comment on the yellow, since it is my least favourite colour so I am automatically prejudiced against it :-)

Hmmm. Maybe I can use the paint in the main room as the accent. The colour is called Truffle oil, but it's actually a brown. Although, I'm not sure I have 10 hours to do it, so I may have to come up with something simpler.

It does have a fun name! I've printed out the directions, and I may be giving it a try.

I don't know. Almost always when putting a colour on top of another like this, the top colour used is a glaze -- that is, it is a basically translucent colour, rather than opaque colour. Your leftover paint is going to be opaque. It might be fine for accents -- like window sills or something -- but not for the sort of overlay/tone down for the whole wall thing that you seemed to be contemplating.

Thanks!

And it wasn't supposed to be yellow - it was supposed to be a nice, muted gold. I'm not real fond of the primary colour, myself. *g*

Oh, I know that it has to be mixed with a glaze in a 4:1 ratio. I wa just thinking that this colour might work, if I wanted to. I like [livejournal.com profile] mightydoll's suggestion of smooshing, though....

It's not quite post-it Yellow, but it's definitely too bright. It looks okay at night, with muted lighting, but in the morning... Way too bright? *g*

Depending on how much stuff you are putting in the room on or against the walls (bookshelves, pictures) the yellow may not be too bad. When we painted the living room last year the paint looked very peach-y. But as we painted the rest of the rooms on the first floor it calmed down quite a bit.

Yeah, I think I've decided to wait and see. I'll be going with a pretty neutral blind in there, and that may help. And, there'll be a lot of furniture. So, if I need to adjust itlater, I'll do it one wall at a time. *g*

We actually painted over it again this morning. It's now a nice, sedate, creamy colour. [livejournal.com profile] mycrazyhair calls it Antique Satin. It's much more...relaxing. *g*
