Quiet Weekend

Unlike
mycrazyhair and
corbet my weekend was actually pretty quiet. Our Hallowe'en plans got cancelled at the last minute (well, on Friday), so we actually spent most of the weekend just puttering about.
I finally got new glasses, for instance - I've only needed a new prescription for them for about 2 years. Since I usually wear contacts, I wasn't all that concerned about getting them. But I found a neat, kinda funky pair with easyclip shades for driving, and I think they look pretty good. *g*
Saturday night we watched Fahrenheit 9/11, which was pretty illuminating. I know that it's slanted, but the money trail was kinda startling. It makes me wish I had the financial knowledge to go verify Michael Moore's claims, 'cause they're just scary. The footage of Bush in the classroom the morning of the attacks was almost funny. I've never seen a more obvious "deer-in-the-headlights" expression in my life. I didn't fault him for going on with his photo-op after the first plane hit - I would imagine that, like most of us, he thought it was a horrible, horrible accident - but the indecision after the second plane hit is just mind-boggling

Things learned this weekend:
- Stay far, far away from Mike when he's doing a computer assignment. Not because he gets cranky, but because it makes me crazy to see him make a mistake, or even do things slowly, as he's figuring stuff out. I want to just move him aside and do it myself. I make a truly horrible teacher.
- If I want to burn episodes to DVD, I have to turn off all power management on the computer. It's a small thing, but it makes a huge difference to a 20-hour convert&burn job. Spend all week trying to do something, make that one small change, and Success! *g*
