New Music!
Feb. 26th, 2004 02:56 pmSo, I went wild on Tuesday, and bought 4 new albums, most only just released.
Great Big Sea - Something Beautiful - I figured I should pick it up before going to see them tonight. I've listened to it twice, and it's pretty much their standard stuff - a couple of ballads, some rockers, some traditional stuff. I like it so far, but there's nothing that jumps out at me. That usually happens in the live shows anyway.
madviolet - Worry the Jury - Yay! I finally found a copy! It's got most of the songs from their demo, which I loved, plus a few new ones. The only thing that worries me, a little, is that the "new" songs are ones I heard them doing a year and a half ago. It seems odd that they didn't put newer stuff in there. I hope they're still writing. Since I'll be seeing them in about 3 weeks, I figured I should take a listen to the album a few times first.
Norah Jones - Feels like Home - I like it, but then I loved the first album. Same basic style. Although, I gotta admit, Creepin' in , the duet with Dolly Parton (I think - I haven't checked the liner notes, but it sure sounds like her) really catches my attention each time I hear it. I'm not sure I like it, mind you - it's just a little jarring.
and finally - JC Chasez - Schizophrenic- Yes, I broke down and bought a boybander's album. The ballads on it are a little too sappy for my taste, but I'm really liking the dance tunes. The Prince influence is unbelievable strong. It seems like he's going for the lyrical style of Dirty Mind with the music production style of Diamonds and Pearls. Since I was, once upon a time, a huge Prince fan, this really isn't a problem for me. I like 100 Ways and One Night stand, but I haven't been listening to it enough to have more of an opinion on it than that. At worst, it'll make a geat addition to my workout music :-)
