I've spent the last week pretty much glued to the tv.

The Olympics have been a lot of fun to watch, and I'm loving the Snowboard stuff, especially

(Typical household conversation this week:
Me, watching the Snowboard Cross: "Man, that looks like fun, I'd love to do that!"
M, with raised eyebrows: "Please start on the bunny hill. I'd prefer you didn't, y'know... DIE!")

Anyway, the Men's Figure Skating final last night was fabulous.

I felt bad for Patrick Chan, but a fifth place finish isn't the end of the world, especially since he's so young. I'm pretty sure he'll still be competing 4 years from now.

Johnny Weir was a lot of fun to watch, and I was a little surprised at how low his marks were, but he seemed pleased with his performance. And besides, who else would wear a crown of roses in the Kiss & Cry? Love. Him.

Nobunari Oda recovered remarkable well after breaking his bootlace. The first half of his program was perfect, then the fall due the snapped lace, and then the last half of his program was also really good. That took great nerves, on his part.

But the good news of the night had to be Evgeny Plushenko NOT winning the gold. I've never been an Evgeny fan - back when I was really into Figure Skating, I fell firmly on the Alexei Yagudin side of the the Yagudin/Plushenko rivalry - but his behavior and arrogance this week has been off the boards, even for him. Yes, he's a fabulous jumper, but figure skating is about more than jumping, and the new scoring system makes that brutally clear. For him to land a quad and then get beaten by a skater (Evan Lysacek) who didn't even have a quad in his program, but plain and simply outskated him - that felt really right. *g*

On the schedule for tonight: Ice Dance Compulsaries!

Heh. I suspect it may take a bit of time to work up to the cool stuff.

Plushenko got what he deserved. Saying things like "I was sure I'd won!" is a bit too much. And Mishin getting all hysterical yet again and outright insulting Evgeny's rivals on National TV makes me want to see Plushenko disqualified. It's indecent and it hurts Russia's international image badly. They should not get away with that.

P.S. - Besides, if they are serious about quad being enough for a win, then Lambiel should be winning, having done two of those.

Thank you for my DW account love. You're a sweetie. And I agree, the Olympics were great. Too bad they're over. :(
