Apparently, I have a new 2nd cousin. First cousin once removed? I can never keep that naming straight - my cousin has had a baby.
I just got an announcement email from my aunt. Apparently, her son is now a father. (well, going by the baby's last name, we're talking about her son, and not her daughter, anyway). I didn't even know he had a serious girlfriend, let alone that they were expecting. He's in his late twenties, so it's not like this is a huge shocker or anything... I just didn't know. Being this far away from home is odd, sometimes. I'm assuming I'd have heard if they got married, at least. Right?
In other news, we have no AC here in this part of the office. It's 27.8 degrees in here. I shoulda worn a tank top today.
ETA: the AC has been fixed. Yay!

Second generation - siblings
Third generation - cousins
Fourth generation - second cousins
Nth removed is the number of generations difference. So fifth generation to fourth generation are second cousins once removed. (Ignoring the specialized language if one of the people is in the first or second generation.)
