Eminem's "Mosh"

Since [livejournal.com profile] iclysdale posted a link to the new Eminem video, I figured I'd check it out.

Wow.

That's just amazing. Pure political rage, played out on screen. I just wish it had hit the airwaves a month ago, so that it might make some difference. My favorite part is the single mom with the eviction notice pulling on a black hoodie with Bush on the TV in the background proclaiming tax cuts for the rich, but it's all good. It's not just the video - I want an mp3 of the song so that I can figure out all the words, cause I'm liking the song itself, too.

It's available at Interscope or here, if you want to take a look.

I am so getting this album when it comes out.

I really like it too, both the song and the video. I'm not too impressed by "Just Lose It", but now I might get the album (though I have the first 3 and I'm not sure I need any more Eminem in my collection *g*).

I haven't actually heard anything else from the album - I've heard some of the fuss about the video for "Just Lose It", but I still haven't heard the song.

"Mosh", though, is just the kinda stuff of his that I like - political, angry, and not misogynistic. I think he's got a real gift for getting to people, & I love it when he uses that gift in a meaningful way. My favourite songs from The Eminem Show are White America, Square Dance, and Sing for the Moment which are pretty much all along this vein.

Since each successive album seems to have gotten less hateful and more political, I'll think I'll probably like the new one.

I kinda like the video for "Just Lose It" but I think the song is a bit too much of a rehashing of previous stuff.

I'm not a big fan of the hateful stuff either, though it's pretty much impossible to offend me. My favourite Eminem track is definitely "Lose Yourself", and since that was pretty recent maybe he's hitting his prime. We'll see when the new album comes out.

Heh. Lose Yourself is the song that made me an Eminem fan, so yeah, that's probably my all-time favorite (so far) as well.

My problem is, I can be offended by his stuff. I bought the Marshall Mathers LP because I was so impressed by The Eminem Show, and I think I've listened to it twice. There are songs on there that actually make me feel ill, there's so much bile in them. So, it's powerful stuff, sure, but it's sure not stuff I wanna listen to. There's only one song on the Eminem Show, Drips, that comes close to the line for me, though, so I think it's just a matter of him actually getting over the nasty stuff in his life and not needing to yell about it anymore. That means, he's got room to talk about other stuff - the stuff I find interesting.

Yeah, the 2nd album is definitely the most (darkly) vitriolic, I suspect mostly in reaction to the negativity he got after the 1st album. Now he seems to have settled down a bit. For him anyway :-)
