I'm actually going to a Prince concert tonight! (Insert lots of fangirl squealing here!)

I've had the tickets for months, so the fact that I'm going isn't a surprise, but I think it's finally sinking in. I'm really looking forward to this evening.

I was a huge fan as a teenager. My room was plastered in pictures of him taken from teenie magazines, and I even had a huge poster of him on the ceiling over my bed. I'd always been into music, but I think he's the first musician/performer that I was a specific fan of.

I haven't really listened to a lot of his stuff in years - I think Diamonds and Pearls was the last of his albums that got a lot of time in my Walkman/CD player, mainly because I'd started listening to what I call angry chick music. Somehow his stuff didn't mesh all that well with Ani DiFranco or Liz Phair, y'know? I tossed Purple Rain in my CD deck yesterday, and just fell in love again. That album is fantastic.

I've never seen him live, so tonight should be a whole lotta fun.

I loved Purple Rain. I wonder how much old stuff he'll be doing, as compared to the newer stuff.

It's supposed to be mostly old stuff - it's being billed as a "greatest hits" tour, after all.

The shows start at 7:30, and there's no opening act, so I think he may be playing a lot of songs.
