Hmm.. if the market is demanding you make that kind of decision, then you need to have any prerequisite decisions (i.e. how much can I afford) made beforehand. Then you can focus on whether you are interested in making an offer on this particular property. No comparisons, no second guessing, no looking back. A "no" is just as final as a "yes". There's a kind of zen simplicity about it.

Of course we went from just looking one weekend to signing the deal the next weekend on our house. (And, although we didn't know it at the time, we probably did need to move that fast; 'cause the house had been sold earlier but the deal fell through. Right place, right time.)
